ARK: Survival Ascended Teams Up with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

ARK: Survival Ascended is featuring an unexpected crossover with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, allowing players to don the iconic costumes and command the towering Dinozords of the original five teenagers with attitude. Last October, Studio Wildcard released an updated version of its 2015 action-adventure survival game ARK: Survival Evolved in early access, which was eventually ported to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. ARK: Survival Ascended currently includes all the content from the original ARK: Survival Evolved, along with the Scorched Earth DLC expansion.

More content is on the horizon for ARK: Survival Ascended as it prepares for the release of ARK 2 later this year. Players can look forward to at least four new expansions: Aberration, Extinction, Genesis Part 1, and Genesis Part 2. Additionally, the game has maintained a large modding community from the original Survival Evolved, with dedicated fans creating new enemies and features to enhance the survival experience. One notable recent mod introduces a massive, Godzilla-like dinosaur named the Prismorax.

Now, ARK: Survival Ascended is crossing over with another famous Kaiju-centric franchise through the newly-released ARK: Survival Ascended x Power Rangers Cosmetic Pack mod. This Mighty Morphin Power Rangers-themed DLC from CurseForge and developer/publisher Look North World was announced last month and is now live. The accompanying trailer shows a typical ARK survivor discovering a Power Morpher and transforming into the original Red Ranger. As Ron Wasserman’s iconic “Go Go Power Rangers” plays, the newly-minted Ranger tames his trusty T-Rex Dinozord and searches for the rest of the team.

While the Power Rangers franchise has been somewhat quiet since the release of Power Rangers Cosmic Fury on Netflix last September, recent weeks have brought exciting gaming news. During this month’s Summer Game Fest, Hasbro and developer Digital Eclipse revealed Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind, a retro-style side-scrolling beat-em-up featuring Robo-Rita traveling back in time to battle the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team. This game, which will allow co-op play and include numerous references to the classic series, is set to launch in late 2024.
